About

Our Story

I became a nurse the way most of us do: I was handed a stack of textbooks, told to memorize, and pushed onto the floor. I passed every exam. I had every credential. And the first time a patient crashed in front of me, I realized something that nursing school had never told me out loud.

I had been trained to recognize patterns I had never been taught to understand.

I could recite lab values. I could not always tell you why they mattered. I could name a medication. I could not always tell you the mechanism it was correcting. I had been taught the what without the why — and the gap between those two words is where patients get hurt and nurses burn out.

So I went back. I taught myself pathophysiology the way it should have been taught the first time: as a story of cause and effect, of compensation giving way to decompensation, of every drug existing because of a mechanism that broke. I built frameworks I wished someone had given me. And the more I taught them on social media, the more nurses messaged me saying the same thing in different words: I have been doing this for years and no one has ever explained it like this.

That is when I knew this was not a side project. It was a calling.

And I do not use that word lightly. I believe the gifts you carry were placed in you on purpose, by a God who does not make mistakes. The calling to care for people — to sit with them in their worst moments and fight for them with everything you know — that is not an accident. This work is not a job. It is a vocation. And you deserve to be equipped for it fully.

Think Like a Provider™ was built for the nurse I used to be. For the LPN who wants more. For the RN who feels stuck. For the NP student crying in her car before clinicals. For every clinician who has ever whispered "I should already know this" and felt ashamed for not knowing.

You were not behind. You were taught backwards. And we are going to fix that, together.

Our Mission

Think Like a Provider™ exists to liberate nurses from rote memorization and equip them with the mechanisms, frameworks, and clinical reasoning patterns that transform task-doers into provider-thinkers. We teach nurses to think, not memorize. Because every patient deserves a clinician who understands the why.

Who This Is For

This is for you if you have ever felt smart in theory but lost at the bedside.

This is for you if you are an LPN who wants to stop being told "thats above your scope" — and start understanding why things work the way they do.

This is for you if you are an RN preparing for NCLEX, advanced practice, or simply trying to survive the floor with confidence.

This is for you if you are an NP student drowning in 700-page textbooks, terrified of boards.

This is for you if you are a new NP in your first two years of practice, feeling like an impostor despite the credentials.

This is for you if you are a nurse educator who knows rote memorization is failing your students but does not have a better framework yet.

The unifying thread: every person we serve has been taught backwards and is ready to be retaught forwards.

The Ancient Roots of Modern Reasoning

Most nursing brands are built on shortcuts and mnemonics. This one is built on a lineage of thinkers — spanning two thousand years — who refused to accept disease as mystery, and refused to stop asking why. That tradition is the backbone of every TLAP™ framework. Here is where our reasoning comes from.

See. Question. Recognize. Explain. Map. Wield. That is the arc of every TLAP™ framework. And it is two thousand years old.
